Wild Hogs Capture Inaugural FRH Championship, Dig Deep to Dethrone Undefeated Bobcats

THE FORGE, FRESNO, CA — History has officially been written in the Fresno Roller Hockey league. In a championship clash that will be talked about for seasons to come, the Wild Hogs dug deep, put their bodies on the line, and pulled off a stunning upset to defeat the previously undefeated Bobcats to capture the inaugural FRH Championship trophy.

From the opening whistle, it was clear that this was not going to be a casual skate. It was a hard-fought, physical, and relentless battle between two elite squads that refused to give an inch of concrete.

Heavyweight Fight: The League-Leading Bobcats Attack

While the Wild Hogs walked away with the hardware, the previously unbeaten Bobcats proved exactly why they dominated the regular season. They brought a high-powered offensive showcase that pushed the Hogs to the absolute brink, led by the league's top point-producers.

The Muehlhaus Engine: Eric Muehlhaus entered the night as the undisputed star player of the regular season, leading the entire league with an incredible 25 goals and 28 total points in just 8 games. He carried that dominant form straight into the final, firing home 2 goals and adding an assist to keep the pressure on the Hogs.

The Playmaker: Daniel Hardisty capped off a stellar year where he posted 26 regular-season points (14 goals, 12 assists). He showed off that same distribution game in the finals, setting up the offense with 2 crucial assists.

The Supporting Core: Stephen Greer, Dave Giltner, and Ryan Rendahl each lit the lamp with a goal apiece, matching the Hogs blow-for-blow in a thrilling display of depth. Nate Fierro anchored the shift rotations, fighting through heavy coverage to sustain the frontline pressure.

The Wild Hogs Counter-Punch

Faced with the Bobcats' top-tier assault, the Wild Hogs counter-punched with timely execution and an unforgettable showcase from their own heavy hitters.

The Malesic Masterclass: Joe Malesic put on a legendary performance. After recording 17 points in the regular season, he paced the Hogs when it mattered most by netting a spectacular hat trick (3 goals) and adding a crucial assist for a massive 4-point night.

The Overtime Hero: Marshall Smith delivered a clutch performance, chasing Muehlhaus for the league scoring title all year with 27 regular-season points. He came up huge in the final, racking up two goals and an assist, including the breathtaking OT sudden-death game-winner to trigger a wild bench-clearing celebration.

Clutch Depth: Sterling Mendenhall stepped up in huge moments, contributing a crucial goal and an assist to keep the momentum swinging in the Hogs' favor.

The Unsung Supporting Corps: The championship win was fully cemented by the tireless, hard-nosed play of Shaymus Banks, Fabian Gonzales, Joey Greenberg, Tyler Thomas, and Uriah Pagayonan. This vital supporting corps worked their tails off every single shift, playing hard in the dirty areas of the floor, winning loose-puck battles, and shutting down the Bobcats' dangerous transitions to keep the Hogs in the fight.

Blue-Collar Grit & Special Teams Intensity

This inaugural championship wasn't just won on skill; it was forged in the physical trenches. The Wild Hogs’ defensive corps played a stout, punishing game anchoring the house, clearing the crease, and quite literally taking heavy, fast-moving roller pucks to the ribs to protect the net.

The raw, physical intensity of the contest was reflected heavily on the stat sheet. Emotions boiled over on both sides as players battled for the cup, resulting in a chippy affair that saw two roughing penalties handed out, one to Shaymus Banks who nearly led the league in penalty minutes with 8 PIM during the regular season--which seems unbecoming of a league commissioner--and the other to Stephen Greer, who also logged a tripping penalty as well in the final to add to his 10 regular-season PIM. Every single power play and penalty kill felt like a war.

A Historic Foundation is Set

Ultimately, it was the strong support from the rest of the crew on both sides that turned this game into an instant classic. The Wild Hogs had to play a flawless game to hand the Bobcats their very first loss of the season at the absolute perfect time.

With this victory, the Wild Hogs stand alone at the top of the mountain as the first-ever champions of Fresno Roller Hockey. The foundation has been set, the standard has been established, and both teams have laid the groundwork for a legendary, fierce rivalry for seasons to come.

Congratulations to the Wild Hogs, Inaugural FRH Champions! Hats off to the Bobcats on an incredible, dominant season!
